The Richmond headquarters carries 640 reviews at a 4.8-star average, and the Portsmouth office has reached 129 reviews at 4.7 stars, each total pulled independently from Google's own listings.
The combined total spans more than three decades of customer feedback across the company's two Virginia offices. Hurricane Fence has operated continuously since 1994, a run of more than 30 years that includes over 12,000 completed projects across its locations. The company holds a Virginia Class A contractor license, an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau, and recognition as an AFA Blue Ribbon Company, a designation from the American Fence Association. The company's two other offices, a commercial-only location in Dunn, North Carolina, and a newer office serving Northern Virginia, were not included in the total.
The company confirmed both totals directly against Google's review platform ahead of this announcement.
Company leadership points to one step in the sales process that shows up often in the reviews themselves. Before a crew is scheduled, a Hurricane Fence salesperson walks the property with the homeowner to review where the fence will run and mark post locations. That same walkthrough is when the salesperson flags anything on the lot, a slope, a tight setback, a buried utility line, that could change the installation. A second visit after the work wraps checks the result against what was discussed at the walkthrough, and in Portsmouth, salespeople can also help homeowners assemble the paperwork their homeowners association requires before a permit can be pulled.
Response speed appears in a number of the reviews as well. We do the walkthrough, get the job done the way we said we would, and follow up afterward, and enough people decide that's worth writing down.
